Hi everyone! With 2020 out of the way and NaNoRenO 2021 coming up I thought I'd go over several topics that might be of interest.

But first: thank you to everyone who downloaded, played, and purchased Protea in 2020! Thank you in particular to those who tipped a substantial amount with their purchase 😭. Your support is what makes my development of future visual novels possible!

1) Protea's performance and how it influences future projects.

Protea has performed very well! Whereas my previous projects get around 1 download a month, Protea consistently gets 5~10 downloads a day! Protea has also generated ~17 times the revenue of my previous project, Dynaeleos! (Calaponis generated no revenue at all 😌).

This jump in performance can be attributed to many things, but I think rather than the visual novel just being better (I do think it's better, but...), more people were interested due to the adult content.

So yeah, sex sells. In light of Protea's performance, I plan to continue to develop NSFW visual novels for the time being. But depending on the project, the development of safe-for-work versions of such VNs may be possible.

2) Will there be a sequel to Protea?

A few people have asked if there will be a sequel to Protea. Probably yes! Right now the plan is to continue the story in the form of a captioned CG set. The main issue stalling its development is the problem of how to present and format the codex for direct-to-CG format.

The story will be similar to the outline revealed in Protea ~Laurel Edition~'s exclusive codex entries, but with more of a focus on the new character, Mint, and her backstory.

3) NaNoRenO 2021 Participation?

NaNoRenO is an annual visual novel game jam that takes place in March. Protea was developed during NaNoRenO 2020, and yes, I plan on participating in NaNoRenO 2021 as well! Planning for the 2021 project is underway. It'll be more grounded and light-hearted than my previous projects. Stay tuned for more info in the coming months!
